| Welcome to the 16th century manor house in Podzamcze near Kwidzyn ! Bialy Dwór is situated among picturesque meadows and forests on a high bank over the Vistula River valley. Natural defensive features of the area as well as proximity of trade routes, especially of so-called "Amber Route" were already appreciated in the Middle Ages. In the neighbourhood there are numerous remains of the Prussian and Teutonic settlements. | |
At the beginning of the 16th century Podzamcze was purchased by the Sokolowski family of Pomian coats of arms. They built two fortified residences - the White Manor (Bialy Dwór) and the Red Manor (Czerwony Dwór). In succeeding years Bialy Dwór belonged to Polish families: the Kretkowski and the Dziewanowski and later on to the German family of Boris. The manor was abandoned and devastated after World War II. In 1994 it became a private property and the present owners started reconstruction and restoration of the buildings. Today Bialy Dwór houses a charming hotel where you can feel fascinating and impressive atmosphere of old days. | |
Here you will find cosy aura and professional and kind service. And also this intangible air of many years of turbulent history lurking in the recesses of the manor. THE MANOR'S HOSTS |
